How to Play CarGuessr
CarGuessr is a car price guessing game inspired by GeoGuessr. You are shown a real car listing — complete with photos, specifications, and details — and your goal is to guess the price as accurately as possible.
Getting Started
Choose a difficulty level and a game mode from the home screen. No account is needed to play most modes — just pick a mode and start guessing. Creating a free account unlocks the Daily Challenge, friend challenges, achievements, and personal statistics.
Difficulty Levels
Easy Mode
Features modern used cars from UK dealerships. You will see everyday vehicles like hatchbacks, SUVs, and saloons with typical market prices. This is the best starting point if you are new to car valuations.
Hard Mode
Features classic, vintage, and exotic cars from auction houses. Expect rare collector cars, historic racing vehicles, and luxury automobiles with prices that can range from a few thousand to several hundred thousand pounds.
Game Modes
Challenge Mode (Recommended)
The core CarGuessr experience. You are shown 10 cars one at a time and must guess each price. You earn up to 5,000 points per car based on how close your guess is. A perfect guess earns 5,000 points, and the maximum possible score is 50,000.
Time Attack
A fast-paced mode where you have just 20 seconds to guess each car's price. You earn base points for accuracy, plus up to 2,000 bonus points depending on how quickly you submit your guess.
Daily Challenge
Every day, a set of 10 cars is chosen for all players. You get one attempt only. Everyone competes on the same cars, making the daily leaderboard a fair competition. Requires a free account.
Streak Mode
You must guess within 10% of the actual price to continue. One guess outside the 10% margin and the game is over. Your goal is to build the longest streak of accurate guesses.
Stay at Zero
An endless mode where your cumulative error is tracked. Each guess adds the difference between your guess and the actual price to your running total. The goal is to keep this total as low as possible.
Scoring Tips
- Look at the year and mileage first — these are the biggest factors in a car's value.
- Check the brand and model — premium brands like BMW, Mercedes, and Audi command higher prices.
- Consider the fuel type — electric and hybrid vehicles often carry a premium.
- Engine size matters — larger engines generally mean higher prices.
- In Hard Mode, look at auction details — provenance and condition notes can hint at value.
- Use the photos — condition is visible in the images. Pristine paintwork suggests higher value.
Leaderboards
Each game mode has its own global leaderboard. After completing a session, you can submit your score with a display name.
Friend Challenges
Create a challenge and share the unique code with friends. Everyone plays the same cars, and a private leaderboard tracks who guessed best.
Achievements and Statistics
As you play, you unlock achievements for milestones like completing your first challenge, building streaks, or hitting high scores.
